Dermal Fillers

What are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers are a non-surgical aesthetic treatment used to restore lost volume, smooth lines, and enhance facial contours. Made from hyaluronic acid, a substance naturally found in the body, fillers work by attracting moisture to the skin, creating a plumper, more youthful appearance. They are commonly used to add volume to the cheeks and lips, define the jawline, soften smile lines, and rejuvenate under-eye hollows. At Image Aesthetics, all dermal filler treatments are carried out by qualified medical professionals with a strong focus on natural-looking results. Each treatment is carefully tailored to your facial structure and aesthetic goals, helping you look refreshed, balanced, and confidently yourself.

How They Work

Dermal fillers use hyaluronic acid (HA), a naturally occurring substance in the skin that helps retain moisture, volume, and elasticity. When injected beneath the skin, the filler adds subtle volume to targeted areas, smooths out wrinkles, and enhances facial contours. The effects are immediate and can be tailored to suit each client’s unique features and desired outcomes. Depending on the area treated and the product used, results can last anywhere from 6 to 24 months. Over time, the filler is naturally broken down by the body.

What To Expect/Aftercare

After treatment, you may experience some mild swelling, redness, or bruising at the injection sites, this is completely normal and usually settles within a few days. To get the best results, we advise avoiding alcohol, intense exercise, and excessive heat (such as saunas or steam rooms) for 24–48 hours post-treatment. Refrain from applying pressure to the treated area and avoid facials or facial massages for at least two weeks. It is also very important to keep the area clean and follow any personalised advice given at your appointment.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What are dermal fillers made of?
Most dermal fillers are made from hyaluronic acid, a substance that occurs naturally in the skin and helps it retain moisture and volume.

2. What areas can be treated with fillers?
Common areas include lips, cheeks, chin, jawline, nasolabial folds (smile lines), marionette lines, and tear troughs (under-eye hollows).

3. Will the results look natural?
Yes. At Image Aesthetics, we specialise in achieving natural-looking results that enhance your features rather than change them. We take a conservative, personalised approach tailored to your facial structure.

4. How long do fillers last?
The longevity depends on the type of filler used and the area treated. Most fillers last between 6 and 24 months.

5. Is the treatment painful?
Dermal filler treatments involve mild to moderate discomfort. Most fillers contain a built-in numbing agent, and a topical numbing cream can also be applied to enhance comfort.

6. Is there any downtime?
There’s often little to no downtime, depending on the area treated, but you may experience some mild swelling or bruising. These effects typically resolve within a few days to weeks.

7. When will I see the results?
Results are visible immediately after treatment, although final results become visible as any swelling or bruising reduces, and the secondly hydrating/plumping effects occurs, usually within 2-4 weeks.

8. Can fillers be dissolved if needed?
Yes. Hyaluronic acid fillers can be safely dissolved using an enzyme called hyaluronidase if necessary.

9. Is it safe?
When administered by a trained medical professional, dermal fillers are safe and well-tolerated. We conduct a full consultation to assess your suitability and ensure a safe, tailored treatment plan.

10. How often will I need top-ups?
Top-ups are usually needed every 6 to 12 months, depending on the area treated, your metabolism, and desired results.
